Julia Rokina by her own way passed the way of the formation of the desire to become artist and growing up, after graduating an art school and entered in 2007 to the Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design’s Fine Art and Ceramic and Glass Department. She taught academic drawing and painting, studied the history of art and improved her knowledge in the field of art glass there.
Julia sincerely fell in love with glass. After graduating magna cum laude both her BA and MFA degrees in summer 2013 she began to work as a team with Vera Golubeva. In the same year girls founded a creative studio and the brand «GRG design studio». Currently she is engaged in both graphics and painting, but most of her time is still dedicated to glass.
Julia Rokina is a contemporary glass artist. She explores relationships between men and nature, a megalopolis, society and the environment. She likes to work in the technique of multilayer bending for achieving the depth of color, finding the balance of the shape and content. She successfully combines classical glass-working techniques with modern sculpture and graphic art. The main direction of artistic research is relations between art and social, urban and nature environment.
