Available Workshops:

"Rockin' Through the Years"

A History of Pop Music from 1900 to 2000.

Learn about the Blues and why it is so important to pop music. Discover Ragtime and the first self-playing music machine. Find out how swing bands in the 1930's became rock & roll in the 1950's. Where did Country music come from? What were disco and punk music? How did Hip Hop begin? Why is Rap music so important?

By the end of the program, you will be able to identify famous tunes, composers, and performers who were the driving forces leading us to the pop music of today.

"Poet and I Know It"

A deep dive into the history of poetry.

Spread your wings and take flight as we delve into discovering the influence that poetry has had throughout history. Differentiate the elements of poetry and how they are the building blocks in creating a poem. Why do haiku poems follow a 5, 7, 5 pattern? When was Blackout poetry originally conceived? We are all poets but it takes confidence for us to know it.

"Fun Figurative"

Learning and Creating: Self-Portrait Art.

In this workshop, students will have the chance to create a self-portrait that is influenced by a master artist. Students will briefly learn about artists from the past to contemporary artists. At the end of the workshop, there will be a self portrait that can be hung up for the family or given to a loved one!
