The former New York Times Photo Editor and staff member that contributed to the winning of a Pulitzer Prize, Lonnie Schlein will be exhibiting his freelance, travel photography at Roost Studios and Art Gallery. The 27 piece collection of framed digital photographs on archival paper range from 1988 to 2015 from his visits of countries such as Libya, Laos, St. Petersburg, and Vietnam, to name a few. Since preserving newspaper clippings as a kid and studying political science at Brooklyn College in 1968, Lonnie has had a passion for photography. Believing a photograph can be a vessel of documenting reality, he uses public space as a tool to distill life into a photograph, focusing on people as the subject and culture as the story. His color portraits and landscapes describe his worldly travels, transmitting his photojournalist neutral-eye through decisive moments of clicking his shutter button.
Lonnie has a wife and two daughters and is a resident of Cuddebackville, NY.
