Martin Davis

I received a BA degree in studio fine arts from SUNY Oneonta in 1987. At the time, I lived in Tannersville NY. It was not long after graduating that I began showing work in various galleries and juried shows throughout Green county. Actually I've submitted to and sold from quite a few galleries. Occasionally, I picked up, along the way, a second place or honorable mention award. Second place at Twighlight Park Hains Falls NY, Second at Athens NY, and Honorable mention at Hunter Mt. Hunter NY.

The following is a partial list of other galleries I've shown in: Woodstock Art Association, Catskill Art Association, Kingston Art Association, Wallkill River Art School gallery ,Unframed Artist Gallery, Barrett house in Poughkeepsie. For seven years straight, Barrett house invited me to participate in their Plein air paint out and auction. At the Unframed Artist Gallery in New Paltz,I taught painting techniques and gave demonstrations, and I also taught a color theory class, for preteens at the Wallkill River Art School at Montgomery NY.

I studied creative writing and wrote for the Mountain Eagle News which was in Tannersville NY, and I did articles for the Ulster Times. I have worked as a finger print specialist for the DCJS at Executive park in Albany. And worked for a ski sports photo lab as a developer, printer, color adjuster and touch up artist. Also because of an interest in finance I completed a correspondence course in Accounting.

 

Currently my work is in many private homes and collections in and around the Hudson valley and the Catskills.
